Software Reviews of Norton Ghost 14.0 [OLD VERSION]Customer Review: Not bad Summary: 3 StarsI bought this software thinking it would have more capabilities and functions. Had I not gotten a good deal on it, it would not have been worth purchasing.
Customer Review: Piece of junk Summary: 1 StarsI'm using this product with an external USB HDD and Windows XP. Every time I attempt a full backup, it terminates before it is complete. I can do partial backups but never a full one. For that I could use Windows copy and dispense with Norton Ghost entirely. Tech support was no help. As far as I'm concerned, this is a real piece of junk.
Customer Review: unusable - awful for a flagship product Summary: 1 StarsI was aware of the old reputation of Norton Ghost as being powerful, so i tried installing it. it threw errors after burrowing deep inside my system. all i need is backup software. why is it burrowing deep? i've previously used Windows Live OneCare for incremental backups, and it was reliable. but, since Microsoft is abandoning that backup feature, i sought an alternative.
The installation process for Norton Ghost 2009 is very long. too long for something that just does backups. I had my security settings on my system lowered to allow smoother installation, yet it was still triggering alerts. this leads me to believe that it's installing things that are not advertised on the package.
I've give up on Norton Ghost 2009 and will now try Acronis True Image. it seems to have a better reputation, and perhaps it won't dig itself deep into my settings.
As a side note, I had to do a System Restore to rid my system of Norton Ghost 2009. wonderful, eh?
Customer Review: Norton Ghost 14.0 Summary: 1 StarsBought the program in March, didn't get it installed til April, here it is May It's still NOT working properly due to "Authorization" of program or maybe PC?
Customer Review: A complete failure Summary: 1 StarsBeing a computer repair and network tech geek for over 15 years, I know what I am talking about.
SKIP this pathetic excuse of a product.
Spend the same amount of money and check out Acronis True Image...there is a HOME version for about $45 and a Business "Workstation" version for $85 and up. The HOME version will be great for most users but the Workstation version offers Universal Restore...for a little extra cash. This means you can restore the PC image to another PC with dissimilar hardware. I have used it for years with much satisfaction! And it has saved me and my clients HOURS of frustration.
There is no subscription except for updates...you get 1 year of updates. The product does not expire. You buy it, it is yours.
Some magazines gave Norton Ghost 14 top ratings. THEY MUST HAVE BEEN BRIBED or biased by the ad revenue Norton/Symantec spends each month.
